Role Overview

This role owns the paid media strategy across social, SEM, affiliate and media buying from strategy through attribution, testing, and performance analytics. The Senior Director serves as the senior-most leader for our digital media agency relationships, builds and leads the internal media function as it scales, and is a key strategic partner to brand, ecommerce, and creative leadership in delivering best-in-class, full-funnel campaigns. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives on creative media that delivers results, and is energized by new technologies, data, and customer obsession.

Essential Duties

Growth Strategy & Paid Media Budget Ownership

  • Own media budget; define and forecast the annual and quarterly budget across all paid channels (Meta, Google, Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube, Affiliate, CTV, OOH and emerging platforms) against brand, revenue, CAC, ROAS and quality targets.
  • Set overarching paid media and full-funnel growth strategy; lead quarterly and seasonal planning and present strategic plans, results, and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Serve as the senior-most strategic partner and point of accountability for the paid media agencies; own scope, contract negotiation, budget pacing, reporting cadence, and performance accountability, including decisions on agency vs. in-house channel ownership.
  • Own the annual testing roadmap and innovation pipeline, ensuring always-on A/B testing across creative, campaign build-outs, and landing pages translates into scalable, incremental growth.
  • Set final approval on paid campaigns and creative direction, ensuring alignment between brand vision and performance goals.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Build, lead, and mentor the media function, including agency evaluations and hiring and developing team members as the department scales.
  • Serve as the primary growth strategy partner to brand, ecommerce, and creative leadership, aligning integrated campaign and product marketing strategy with company-wide growth goals.
  • Define influencer and UGC paid strategy in partnership with brand leadership; set standards for cross-functional briefing, ideation, and execution.
  • Represent growth media in executive and cross-departmental planning forums and company-wide strategic initiatives.

Attribution, Analytics & Forecasting

  • Own performance marketing dashboards, forecasting models, and attribution methodology (media mix modeling, incrementality testing, Northbeam or equivalent) at a company-wide level.
  • Partner with the VP of Global Marketing, VP of Ecommerce and Chief Commercial Officer quarterly and annual growth modeling, budget scenario planning, and revenue forecasting.
  • Own the integrity and governance of campaign tracking, UTMs, and attribution infrastructure across teams and channels.
  • Translate performance data into leadership- and board-level insights, narratives, and recommendations.

Growth Channel Expansion & Innovation

  • Own strategy, business case development, and budget impact for new and emerging channel expansion (e.g., AI-driven platforms, Substack, credit card programs, podcasting, OOH) beyond traditional paid digital.
  • Own vendor and partner selection, negotiation, and contract management for new performance channel partnerships, including oversight of the Affiliate strategic agency search and onboarding.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive movement, and platform innovation to set long-term channel strategy and investment roadmap.
  • Champion a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and calculated risk-taking across the growth function.

Organizational Leadership & Process

  • Own and continuously evolve growth playbooks, best practices, and marketing SOPs across the organization.
  • Partner with the VP of Global Marketing on org design, resourcing, and structure for the growth function as the team and business scale.
  • Support and help shape the brand's organic/SEO growth strategy in strategic partnership with ecommerce.
  • Champion a data-driven, test-and-learn culture throughout the broader marketing organization.

Prerequisite Knowledge, Skills, and Education

  • 7+ years of digital marketing and paid media experience, including experience owning a budget within a high-growth DTC or fashion/ecommerce environment
  • 2+ years of experience managing direct reports and/or leading agency teams in a player-coach or leadership capacity
  • Demonstrated track record owning multi-million dollar paid media budgets and delivering against revenue, CAC, and ROAS targets

  • Experience building, scaling, or restructuring a growth marketing function or team
  • Highly proficient in Google Sheets/Excel, Google Analytics, Meta Ads Manager, and Northbeam (or equivalent attribution tool) — hands-on-keyboard experience is not required, but either agency management or hands-on media buying experience is a must
  • Familiarity with Shopify, Klaviyo, and Attentive platforms a strong plus
  • Excellent executive communicator; skilled at translating data into insight, narrative, and action for senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Creative, analytical, and commercially minded — comfortable owning both strategy and execution, and moving fluidly between the two
