Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Paid Media, the Ad Creative Strategist is accountable for the creative performance of paid social and digital media. This role informs overall marketing and social strategy with performance data and platform insights, and tailors it for paid media so that what we run is built to perform on each platform.
Working closely with the Creative, Social and Marketing teams, the Senior Creative Strategist translates brand direction into paid-ready briefs, designs and runs structured creative tests, and feeds the learnings back into the wider creative conversation to help grow traffic and sales.
The ideal candidate lives in Meta, TikTok and Snapchat, understands what makes a thumb stop, and can explain with data why one concept outperformed another. You are as comfortable writing a creator brief as you are reading a creative breakdown by hook, angle and format, and you know how to influence without owning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the creative performance of paid social: monitor results by concept, format, hook and audience, and drive the recommendations on what to iterate, scale or retire;
  • Inform the Social and Marketing teams' creative strategy with paid performance insights, audience learnings, platform trends and competitor creative, and share them regularly in a form the teams can act on;
  • Tailor approved brand and campaign creative for paid media: adapt concepts, hooks, messaging hierarchy, formats and lengths to each platform and funnel stage while staying true to brand direction;
  • Design and run a structured creative testing roadmap with hypotheses, variables, budgets and read-out dates, aligned to the promotional calendar and seasonal moments, and report on learnings;
  • Identify organic and creator content with paid potential and partner with the Social team on selecting, adapting and amplifying it, including Spark Ads and partnership ads;
  • Work with media buyers to align creative rotation, refresh cadence and fatigue management with budgets and funnel goals;
  • Track competitor and category creative, and new ad formats, and turn them into concept suggestions and test proposals;
  • Build and maintain a creative insights library that Creative, Social and Marketing can use when planning content.

To qualify for this role, you must have

  • Undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field, preferably;
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in creative strategy, paid social or performance marketing, in retail, E-commerce, DTC or an agency;
  • Hands-on experience with Meta Ads Manager and TikTok Ads Manager;
  • Snapchat experience an asset;
  • Strong writing and briefing skills, and the ability to give clear, constructive feedback to designers, editors and creators;
  • An analytical mindset: comfort with creative metrics such as hook and hold rate, CTR, CVR, CPA and eROAS, and with tools such as Funnel or Motion;
  • Excellent presentation, communication and stakeholder skills, with a track record of influencing teams you do not manage;
  • Strong project management and attention to detail;
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is required for daily communication with suppliers, employees, and stakeholders, both within and outside of Quebec.
At GDI, You Will Be Part Of a Growing Organization That Understands The Importance Of Investing In People And Offers You
  • A comprehensive compensation package that includes performance-driven bonuses;
  • A group retirement savings program with employer matching;
  • Flexible group insurance with personalized coverage that meets your needs;
  • An employee discount at Garage and Dynamite;
  • Exclusive private sample sales;
  • A flexible vacation policy;
  • And more!
GDI has been repeatedly voted one of Montréal’s Top Employers and one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People.
