Purpose of position
To support the Recruitment Specialist with the efficient and consistent delivery of store recruitment across the Group. The Recruitment Officer will assist with day-to-day recruitment activities, including advertising, sourcing, screening, interview coordination, candidate communication and background checks, while ensuring vacancies progress timeously and records remain accurate.
Role and responsibilities
Vacancy Management and Administration
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date Store vacancy trackers and recruitment records.
- Monitor vacancy progress, follow up on outstanding feedback and escalate delays or recruitment risks to the Recruitment Specialist.
Advertising, Sourcing and Talent Pools
- Prepare and place Store vacancy advertisements through approved recruitment channels.
- Source candidates according to agreed requirements and maintain talent pools for recurring Store vacancies.
- Record candidate sources to support source – performance reporting.
Screening and Shortlisting
- Screen CVs and conduct initial candidate pre-screening against agreed Store requirements.
- Recommend suitable candidates and refer complex, sensitive or key Store appointments to the Recruitment Specialist.
- Ensure shortlisting decisions are fair, consistent and job-related.
Interview Coordination
- Schedule Store interviews and follow up with Area Managers for timeous feedback and decisions.
- Keep candidates informed throughout the recruitment process.
Onboarding Support
- Assist with Store onboarding requirements and follow up with Area Managers for the necessary information and documentation.
- Provide successful candidates with the relevant joining information.
Recruitment Systems, Data and Reporting
- Maintain accurate Store vacancy and candidate information on the ATS/CRM and relevant trackers.
- Keep candidate stages, outcomes, sources and appointment information up to date.
- Support reporting on Store vacancy ageing, turnaround times, recruitment pipelines and outstanding actions.
- Maintain the accuracy, integrity and confidentiality of recruitment data.
Stakeholder and Candidate Support
- Build professional relationships with Area Managers, Store management, agencies and candidates.
- Provide regular recruitment updates and deliver a responsive, candidate-friendly experience.
- Support the Recruitment Specialist with new-store recruitment, Store recruitment projects and process improvements.
Qualifications and experience
- Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification (essential).
- A relevant tertiary qualification (advantageous).
- A minimum of 2–3 years' recruitment experience, including exposure to high-volume Store or retail recruitment.
- Experience in sourcing, screening, interview coordination, reference checking and recruitment administration.
- Experience working with an ATS, recruitment CRM or candidate database.
- Working knowledge of recruitment practices, relevant employment legislation and the appropriate handling of confidential information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage multiple vacancies and priorities simultaneously.
