We are looking for a Social Media Director to lead regional or divisional social media strategy, turning global direction into clear plans, governance, and measurable outcomes across clients, markets, and teams. This person will act as the senior link between the Global Head of Social Media and the wider social media team, ensuring strategy is implemented through strong planning, cross-functional alignment, and consistent delivery standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Regional Planning- Translate global social media vision into regional, market, or divisional strategies that align with client objectives and broader business priorities.
- Define annual social media plans, priorities, and success measures for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Establish clear strategic direction across channels, audiences, content approaches, and engagement models to improve performance and consistency.
- Ensure regional or divisional strategies reflect platform developments, audience behaviours, and local market nuance while maintaining alignment with global standards.
- Provide senior guidance on campaign planning, channel investment, and social media integration across broader marketing and communications activity.
Operational Leadership & Governance- Lead the implementation of frameworks, playbooks, workflows, and standards that improve quality, consistency, and efficiency across the social function.
- Own governance across approvals, compliance, reporting standards, escalation routes, and brand protection within the role’s area of responsibility.
- Maintain operational oversight of delivery across teams, ensuring work is on time, on brief, commercially viable, and aligned to Gravity standards.
- Resolve delivery, capacity, or quality issues quickly, escalating significant commercial, reputational, or operational risks where required.
- Drive disciplined use of social platforms, publishing tools, analytics systems, and performance processes to support effective delivery and decision-making.
Team Leadership & Capability Building- Lead, develop, and support Senior Social Media Managers, Social Media Leads where applicable, Social Media Managers, and specialist contributors across the social media function.
- Set clear expectations for accountability, performance, behaviour, and decision-making across multi-team structures.
- Build team capability through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and structured development aligned to evolving client and platform demands.
- Support workforce planning, resource allocation, and organisational design to ensure the right capability is in place to deliver current and future demand.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across teams and markets.
Client Leadership & Commercial Performance- Act as senior client partner for key social media relationships, providing strategic counsel, performance challenge, and trusted advice to client stakeholders.
- Identify growth opportunities across existing accounts by strengthening social media scope, improving effectiveness, and shaping forward plans.
- Contribute to commercial planning through budget stewardship, resource assumptions, scope development, and performance oversight for social activity.
- Support new business opportunities, proposals, and pitches by defining strong social media approaches and demonstrating the value of integrated social thinking.
- Ensure client reporting and reviews connect social media outcomes to agreed KPIs, business priorities, and future recommendations.
Cross-Functional Integration & Quality of Output- Lead cross-functional partnerships with PR, Paid Media, Creative, Analytics and Client Services to deliver connected social media programmes.
- Ensure campaign plans, creative outputs, reporting approaches, and audience strategies are aligned across disciplines and markets.
- Challenge weak briefs, misaligned priorities, or disconnected execution that could reduce impact or create delivery risk.
- Raise the quality of strategic thinking, content planning, campaign execution, and optimisation across the social team.
- Promote joined-up planning and communication that removes silos and improves delivery confidence across the wider agency.
Innovation, Insight & Performance Measurement- Establish performance measurement frameworks that provide clear visibility of campaign effectiveness, delivery quality, and strategic progress.
- Use data, reporting, audience insight, and competitive context to refine strategy, improve execution, and guide investment decisions.
- Champion innovation in platform use, content formats, tools, automation, and AI to improve team efficiency and client outcomes.
- Encourage structured testing, learning, and adoption of best practice across social media activity.
- Contribute thought leadership that strengthens the profile, credibility, and future readiness of the social media practice.
