Retention Marketing Producer
Sticky Digital is a retention-only email and SMS agency for DTC ecommerce brands. We are a Klaviyo Platinum Partner and were named Retention Marketing Agency of the Year. We do not run paid ads, SEO, or social. We build the lifecycle programs that turn first-time buyers into repeat customers, and our clients typically attribute 35 to 50 percent of total store revenue to email and SMS within six months.
We are hiring a Retention Marketing Producer to own a portfolio of Shopify brands.
What this role actually is
You own five to seven accounts. For each one, you are the day to day lead: the person the client talks to, the person who decides what gets built next and why, and the person accountable for whether the program performs. You report to an Executive Sponsor who backs you on strategy and on the hard conversations, and you work alongside a retention coordinator and a designer assigned to your accounts.
This is a strategy and ownership role with real hands in the platform. You will be in Klaviyo every day. You are not building every email yourself, but you are writing the briefs, reviewing the work before it ships, and making the call on segmentation, timing, and offer.
The rhythm
Weekly, campaign and flow builds move through your board, you QA every send before it schedules, you check deliverability and pacing, and you keep your client channels current.
Monthly, you deliver a performance report for every account, run a client call with an agenda built from real data, close out housekeeping, and check hours burned against retainer scope.
Quarterly, you run an account strategy refresh, a creative analysis, and a flow audit.
Ongoing, you are running 90-day lifecycle check-ins, keeping a live testing roadmap, auditing pop-ups and forms, and refining segmentation.
Responsibilities
- Own the client relationship day to day, including calls, agendas, recaps, approvals, and the judgment calls in between.
- Build and maintain the campaign calendar for each account, balancing promotional pressure against list health and margin.
- Brief flows and campaigns with enough specificity that a coordinator or designer can execute without a second meeting: segment criteria, send logic, offer, copy direction, and success metric.
- Partner with design on creative that converts, and give feedback that is about performance, not preference.
- QA every send before it goes out. Audience, recipient count against recent sends, every link and coupon code, UTMs, timing, and conflicts with anything else hitting that day. A send to the wrong list is the fastest way to lose a client's trust.
- Own the flow architecture across the full lifecycle: welcome, post-purchase, browse and cart abandon, replenishment, winback, sunset, and VIP. Audit it, fix what is broken, and build what is missing.
- Run segmentation, engagement tiers, and suppression logic, and defend why a smaller send is sometimes the right call.
- Monitor deliverability weekly and act before a bounce or complaint trend becomes a placement problem.
- Report performance monthly with a narrative, not a screenshot. Explain what moved, why, and what happens next.
- Log every test before it launches and read the results when they land.
- Protect scope. Surface out-of-scope asks, log them as expansion opportunities, and route them to your Executive Sponsor. You will never be left holding that boundary alone.
- Escalate fast. If a client raises a performance concern, you acknowledge it and flag leadership the same business day, with the diagnosis to follow within 48 hours.
- Keep your Asana boards accurate and your time logged. Clean data is how we catch problems early.
What this role is not
You are not running acquisition, paid media, or site CRO. You are not expected to code emails from scratch or design them. You are not negotiating contracts. And you are not doing this alone.
What we are looking for
Two or more years hands-on in Klaviyo or a comparable ESP, with real flow building and segmentation experience rather than campaign sending alone. SMS experience in Attentive or Postscript. Comfort running a client call and holding a point of view in it. Genuine fluency with numbers, meaning you can look at a drop in revenue per recipient and have a theory about why. Project management discipline, because you are coordinating a designer, a coordinator, and a client calendar at the same time across several brands.
Mostly we are looking for judgment. Tools can be taught. Knowing which of five possible fixes actually matters this month is the thing that makes a great producer.
Helpful but not required: Shopify, loyalty platforms like Yotpo or Smile, subscription platforms like Recharge, Stay, or Skio, and deliverability troubleshooting.
How we work
- Remote. Capacity is managed with a point system, so accounts get added deliberately rather than piled on. AI is built into how we deliver, not bolted on, and you will have purpose-built tools for reporting, auditing, briefing, and QA from your first week.
