About the role

The role

We are looking for a Photographer (Still Life & QC) to join our fast-paced Photo Studio in Leicester.  In this role, you will work collaboratively as part of our amazing in-house photography team to deliver high-quality, photorealistic imagery that aligns perfectly with our brand principles and creative direction. You will make a real impact by helping to maintain NEXT’s photographic vision, working closely with your Senior Photographer and Creative Lead who will provide clear direction and support to help you succeed.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a creative and proactive individual looking to take the next step in their career, offering a dynamic environment where you can learn, develop, and grasp new information quickly.

What you'll take on

  • Delivering exceptional Still Life photography for the NEXT customer, ensuring all imagery maintains a consistently high level and complements the studio's creative direction.
  • Collaborating effectively with product teams, studio management, and other photographers to adhere to specific style guides and creatively evolve our visual aesthetics.
  • Utilising AI image generation through prompting and node-based workflows to produce cutting-edge, photorealistic imagery.
  • Researching current trends, street style, social movements, and competitor activities to stay inspired and bring a fresh, innovative approach to every shoot.
  • Working flexibly across different NEXT studios, external studios, and on location as required to meet the rapidly changing requirements of our projects.
  • Communicating clearly with your Senior Photographer to establish achievable goals, while consistently showing initiative and thinking outside the box.

What you'll bring

  • Expert knowledge of photography, retouching, and lighting techniques, alongside a high level of competence in using Photoshop, Capture One, and MAC operating systems.
  • A commercially minded approach with a thorough understanding of retail fashion, lifestyle trends, and competitor awareness.
  • The ability to remain calm, professional, and positive while managing your workload in a highly pressured and rapidly changing environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the maturity to take direction well, listen effectively, and the confidence to train others on photographic techniques.
  • A forward-thinking, proactive mindset with exemplary attention to detail and, ideally, beneficial skills in graphic design and AI prompting.
  • A full UK driving license to support travel to various shoot locations.

Please submit a strong supporting portfolio or website showcasing your relevant e-commerce and editorial photography experience within a large creative studio environment.

Next Plc is one of Britain's biggest clothing, footwear and home retailers, built on a network that spans high street stores and one of the UK's most established online platforms. Founded by Joseph Hepworth and now led by Simon Wolfson, the company has grown from a single tailoring business into a multinational retail group headquartered in Leicester. Its reach extends across the UK and abroad, with stores and digital operations standing alongside each other rather than one replacing the other, a model that has kept Next a fixture on British high streets for decades.
