As a key member of the IMAX China Marketing team, this role will lead the commercialization of branded merchandise and the ecosystem management of our fan community, reporting to Marketing Director. The position is responsible for building and sustaining a loyal fan base, converting fan engagement into box office and merchandise revenue, and supporting broader film marketing and brand initiatives across the team.

Position Title: Manager, Merchandise and Community Marketing

Position Overview

As a key member of the IMAX China Marketing team, this role will lead the commercialization of branded merchandise and the ecosystem management of our fan community. The position is responsible for building and sustaining a loyal fan base, converting fan engagement into box office and merchandise revenue, and supporting broader film marketing and brand initiatives across the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Merchandise Commercialization Strategy & End-to-End Management

• Product Portfolio & Localization Strategy: Build upon the global merchandise framework to lead the planning and development of a localized product portfolio. Oversee the full product lifecycle and curate series-driven product assortments that resonate with local market trends.
• Supply Chain & Business Model Development: Manage the local vendor ecosystem, establishing standardized quality control and cost-accounting frameworks. Collaborate with the eShop team to develop and optimize pricing strategies and commercial bundles, plan product assortment for the eShop platform, and take ownership of overall margin performance.

• Fan Community Ecosystem & Experience Enhancement

• Community Operations & Grassroots Engagement: Manage the day-to-day operations of IMAX's nationwide fan community network, including onboarding and training fan leaders, maintaining city-level fan groups, and ensuring consistent brand-aligned communication across all community touchpoints.
• Paid Screening Activation: Motivate and empower fan communities to independently organize paid screenings, providing operational support, promotional toolkits, and incentive frameworks to drive grassroots participation and ticket sales.
• Fan Loyalty & Revenue Conversion: Design and execute loyalty programs and engagement mechanics that convert fan passion into measurable box office attendance and merchandise purchases, creating a clear pathway from community engagement to commercial outcomes.
• Community Value Co-Creation & Experience Extension: Leverage the private fan community network to design exclusive, brand-warm interactive experiences and merchandise-linked perks. Drive innovative community marketing initiatives that deepen core fans' sense of brand belonging and engagement.
• Brand Reach Expansion: Align community-driven acquisition and activation strategies with merchandise marketing calendars. Bridge online and offline community touchpoints to build a flagship platform that communicates IMAX's brand culture and lifestyle.

• Cross-Team Film & Brand Support

• Film Marketing Support: Collaborate with the broader marketing team to support key theatrical release campaigns, integrating fan community activation and merchandise tie-ins into film-specific marketing plans.
• Brand Initiative Coordination: Participate in cross-functional brand projects as needed, contributing community insights and merchandise perspectives to ensure cohesive brand storytelling across all channels.

What we’re looking for:

This challenging position suits a results-oriented individual with strong marketing, communications skills and fluent in both Mandarin and English.

• Bachelor's degree or above, with 5+ years of hands-on experience in entertainment, designer toys / collectibles, IP commercialization, or leading retail brands.
• Strong Commercial Acumen: Proficient in product planning and supply chain operations, with proven expertise in cost accounting, pricing strategy, and margin management. Data-driven and results-oriented.
• Community & Fan Economy Expertise: Deep understanding of fan culture, private-domain operations, and community-driven commerce. Experience in building and activating fan communities is strongly preferred.
• Industry Passion & Film Savvy: A genuine passion for cinema with extensive viewing experience. The ability to keenly capture key theatrical release windows and weave film cultural elements into merchandise planning and community marketing.
• Empathy & Ecosystem Thinking: The ability to drive organic commercial conversion while respecting and elevating the user experience, balancing fan-first engagement with business objectives.
• Exceptional Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to effectively coordinate external vendors, agencies, and internal stakeholders to deliver complex projects from concept to execution.
