The role

Most "creative strategists" at agencies are really project managers. They pass client requests to an editor, chase revisions, and never see whether the ad made money.

That's not this seat.

Brick Social runs paid media and creative for e-commerce and DTC brands only: SHITI Coolers, Spotlight Oral Care, Atlas Headrest, Minnie Wellness, The Nokbox. One niche, total depth. Every account is a Shopify-economy brand, so the ads you brief on Monday show up as revenue (or don't) by Friday. You'll know which.

You won't be a lone creative fighting for attention, either. You sit inside a pod with a dedicated Meta buyer, a Google buyer, a video editor, and a graphic designer (static editor), all working off the same numbers. Your buyer reads fatigue signals daily and asks for replacements the same day. Your video editor and designer turn your briefs into finished video and static ads. Our pods ship roughly 136 new assets a month, about 7 fresh ads a day, and you decide what they are.

And you're paid like an owner, not a seat. Our pod profit share pays out 20% of pod profit above the margin floor, quarterly. When your creative wins, your paycheck grows. The math is shared openly, and it's the same math I use.

Your Mission (Should You Choose to Accept It): Own creative strategy for every e-commerce account in your pod. Decide what we test, write the briefs, direct the video editor, graphic designer and UGC creators, and read the results. Then do it again, faster. Your job is simple to say and hard to do: find the next winning ad before the current one dies, every account, every month.

The Role - What You'll Own

  1. The creative strategy - you're the creative lead on up to 8 DTC accounts. For each one you own the angle map, the testing roadmap and the hypotheses: which customer, which problem, which hook, which format. You pull the performance data yourself (Meta Ads Manager, Motion, Triple Whale) and turn it into the next round of briefs. You use AI to go deeper and faster on research: mining reviews, Reddit threads and competitor ads for the customer language that becomes your next hook.
  2. The brief-to-launch machine - you write direct-response scripts, static concepts and briefs your video editor and static designer can execute without a follow-up call. AI is part of how you work: you use it to draft scripts and hook variations, then sharpen the best ones yourself, and to QA-check every brief and finished ad (claims, spelling, sizing, brand rules) before anything goes live. Creative goes into our launch system with fixed Mon/Wed/Fri launch windows and hard cutoffs, so "almost ready" doesn't count.
  3. The UGC engine - you run UGC for every account in your pod: who we cast, what they say, and which clips become ads. You write the creator briefs and scripts, review first cuts, give direction on reshoots, and pick the footage your editor builds from. Our admin handles the paperwork behind it (outreach, contracts, product shipments, payments and usage rights tracking), so your time goes to directing creators, not chasing them.
  4. The feedback loop - a 15-minute daily pulse with your pod and a weekly creative-media sync with your buyer to decide what's winning, what's fatiguing and what's next. You also lead creative on client calls, pitching new concepts with the reasoning behind them and the result you expect.
  5. The testing framework - your first big project: build Brick's creative testing framework for the DTC brands in your pod. That means how we choose tests, how we read them, and when we call a winner. It becomes part of how the whole agency works.

Your Targets (Radical Transparency)

You'll see your scorecard on Day 1. Reviews here have zero surprises.

KPIs

  • Hit Rate (share of new ads that become winners): 20%+
  • Revision Rate: under 10%
  • On-Time Delivery: 95%+
  • Error Rate: under 0.05%

You don't need to be perfect on day one. But you do need to be the kind of person who sees these numbers, gets excited, and immediately starts thinking about how to beat them.

Who You Are

Deal-Makers

  • Agency-side, multi-account experience - you've run creative for 4-8 ecomm brands at once and know the rhythm; this is not a first-agency-job role
  • Performance creative, not brand creative - you've briefed and shipped paid social ads for Meta (TikTok is a bonus) in the last 2 years, and you can name ads you made that scaled, with the spend and results behind them
  • You read the data yourself - hook rate, hold rate, CTR, CPA, ROAS; you know the difference between an ad with a bad hook and an ad with a bad offer, and you don't wait for a buyer to tell you
  • You write - direct-response scripts and hooks are your strongest tool; you can write a 10-second Meta ad that grabs attention from the first frame
  • You direct creators - you've written UGC briefs and gotten usable footage back without three reshoots
  • You can hold your own in the tools - basic editing and design (CapCut, Canva, Figma or Adobe) so you can mock up a concept or fix a frame yourself
  • AI-first workflow - you already use AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude or similar) every day for research, scripting and QA, and you're always pushing to get more out of them; you can show us how AI makes your work faster and better, not just more
  • US time zone - you work US hours, anywhere from Pacific to Eastern, and your briefs land before the Mon/Wed/Fri launch cutoffs without fail

Deal-Breakers

  • ❌ You've never been accountable for how your ads performed, only for shipping them
  • ❌ Your portfolio is brand, social or organic content with no paid results attached
  • ❌ You need a buyer or account manager to tell you what to make next
  • ❌ You've only ever worked on 1-2 in-house brands and have never carried an agency workload

You're Perfect If You

  • Have a swipe file of hundreds of ads and can tell us why each one works
  • Have built your own AI prompts or workflows for research, scripts or creative QA, and keep improving them
  • Watch a competitor's new ad and can guess its hook rate before you finish it
  • Get genuinely annoyed when a winning ad runs for six weeks without a fresh version behind it
  • Bonus: you've made creative for Shopify-economy DTC brands and know what a winning ad does to a store's conversion rate

The Package

💰 Compensation: Base $5,000-$7,500/month USD + quarterly pod profit share (based on experience and location)

🎯 Perks That Matter

  • 🌍 100% remote - always has been, always will be
  • 🎬 A production team in your pod, plus an admin who handles UGC logistics - you'll never be stuck editing your own briefs or chasing creator invoices
  • 🧠 Weekly group training hour w/ Founder + monthly 1:1
  • 🤝 $5K referral bonus when you bring us an A-player

Our Values

1. 🎯 Extreme Ownership - when an ad flops, you say "that's mine" and you've already briefed the fix.

2. 📈 Growth - you're better at this job in December than you were in January, every year.

3. 🌟 Exceeding Expectations - "delivered as briefed" is the floor, not the goal.

4. 💬 Openness - you speak up for what you believe in, including when you think the client's idea won't work.

Include the number (1, 2, 3, or 4) of the value that resonates most with you in your application.

The Process

  1. Apply - takes 10 minutes. Include a portfolio of ads you've made for bonus points.
  2. Video interview with Tony (~30 min)
  3. Skills test (1 hour, capped) - we give you a real brand and its ad data; you give us 3 concepts and one finished brief.
  4. Final interview
  5. Reference check → offer within 1-2 weeks of your first interview

Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

PS: A few years ago I was the guy doing everything: buying, briefing, writing scripts at midnight because a client's best ad had died that afternoon. I built Brick's pod system so creative never works like that here. You get a buyer who shares your numbers, an editor who builds from your briefs, an admin who keeps UGC moving, a launch process that actually runs, real targets you see on day one, and a share of the profit you create. If you're a strategist who wants to own creative results inside a system that supports you - I'd love to meet you.
