The role

Creative Strategist & Copywriter

Standout Moments | UK-Based | Growth Opportunity

We’re looking for someone who knows how to make advertising work.

Standout Moments is a growth partner to established businesses. We work with ambitious founders across the UK and US, helping them acquire more customers through better strategy, advertising, creative and customer acquisition systems.

We’re growing our team and looking for a talented, commercially curious Creative Strategist & Copywriter to take ownership of the creative strategy process for both Standout Moments and our clients.

This isn’t a senior leadership position. It’s an opportunity for someone earlier in their career who has a natural ability to understand people, recognise good advertising, write persuasive copy and develop their skills within a fast-moving business.

We’re not a high-volume e-commerce creative factory producing hundreds of ad variations.

Our work is predominantly service-based, founder-led and high-consideration advertising. We invest in understanding businesses, their customers and what makes people buy before developing creative that actually has a purpose.

We care more about the thinking behind an ad than how many ads you can produce.

What you’ll be responsible for

1. Research & Creative Intelligence

You’ll own the research process that informs our advertising decisions.

  • Research our clients’ businesses, services, offers and commercial objectives.
  • Develop detailed customer personas, understanding buyer motivations, frustrations, objections, language and decision-making processes.
  • Conduct competitor research, analysing their ads, messaging, positioning, offers and funnels.
  • Identify successful ads, emerging trends, formats and approaches across UK and US markets.
  • Build and maintain an organised library of advertising examples, scripts, hooks, insights and creative references.
  • Review existing campaign performance and customer feedback to identify new opportunities.

We want someone who investigates why something works, rather than simply copying it.

2. Creative Strategy & Copywriting

This is the heart of the role.

  • Develop advertising concepts, angles, hooks and messaging strategies.
  • Write compelling scripts for founder-led video advertisements, talking-head creatives, interviews, podcast-style ads and other performance formats.
  • Write longer-form Video Sales Letters (VSLs) that build trust, establish value, address objections and encourage action.
  • Adapt scripts to the natural voice, personality and expertise of different founders.
  • Understand direct-response copywriting, persuasion, storytelling, positioning and buyer psychology.
  • Develop variations with deliberate differences, rather than rewriting the same message repeatedly.
  • Support messaging consistency between ads, landing pages and VSLs.

Your writing should sound like something a real person would actually say, not something generated by a language model.

3. Structured Creative Testing

We want to make advertising decisions based on evidence, not guesswork.

You’ll work closely with our performance team to:

  • Develop clear hypotheses behind creative concepts and testing decisions.
  • Document the purpose, intended audience and strategic reasoning behind each ad.
  • Structure tests with deliberate variables, such as different hooks, audience motivations, offers, proof points or creative formats.
  • Review campaign results to understand what is and isn’t working.
  • Look beyond views, clicks and cheap leads to understand lead quality, customer acquisition and commercial outcomes.
  • Maintain a documented testing and learning process for each client.
  • Turn those findings into better advertising.

Every test should teach us something useful.

4. Production Briefing & Creative Oversight

You’ll be responsible for translating the strategy into a clear production vision.

  • Produce detailed, practical creative briefs for founders, actors, presenters, videographers and editors.
  • Brief the production team on the messaging, intended delivery, visual direction and purpose of the creative.
  • Work alongside our production team during pre-production.
  • Occasionally attend shoots at our Birmingham HQ or London studios to help guide the initial creative direction.
  • Review scripts and delivery to ensure the intended messaging is captured.
  • Review finished advertisements before release for messaging, clarity, accuracy and consistency.
  • Check subtitles, captions, grammar, spelling, pacing and overall creative quality.
  • Provide actionable feedback to editors and production colleagues.

You’re not expected to shoot or edit the videos yourself. You are expected to understand what the finished advertisement needs to communicate.

How we use AI

We’re enthusiastic about AI and expect you to use it intelligently.

AI should help you research faster, organise information, analyse patterns, explore ideas and improve your productivity.

But AI is a tool, not a replacement for creative judgement.

We don’t want generic, AI-generated advertising scripts dressed up as strategy.

We want someone who can develop their own ideas, write compelling copy, challenge weak messaging and use AI to make an already strong process more effective.

You’ll be expected to verify research, question outputs and take full responsibility for the quality of your work.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong natural writing and communication skills, particularly persuasive, conversational copy.
  • A genuine interest in advertising, marketing, consumer psychology and why people buy.
  • Some experience or demonstrable ability in copywriting, creative strategy, paid social advertising or a related field.
  • An understanding of Meta advertising and how performance creative fits into customer acquisition.
  • Familiarity with founder-led, service-based or high-ticket advertising would be advantageous.
  • A good understanding of UK and US audiences, including differences in language, cultural references, buying behaviour, tone and communication style.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, especially grammar, subtitles and the accuracy of published content.
  • Strong research, organisation and documentation skills.
  • Confidence communicating ideas, presenting creative briefs and collaborating with different team members.
  • The initiative to identify problems, suggest improvements and move work forward without constant instruction.
  • A willingness to accept feedback, learn quickly and continuously improve.

You don’t need an impressive job title or years of agency experience.

We’re more interested in evidence of good thinking, strong writing and genuine potential.

What makes this opportunity different?

You’ll work closely with the founder and an experienced team across strategy, advertising, production, technology and business growth.

You’ll be involved in real commercial projects, developing advertising for established businesses rather than producing content simply to fill a social media calendar.

You’ll have the opportunity to see the complete process, from initial research and customer insight through to finished advertising, live testing and campaign results.

This is a role with real ownership and the opportunity to develop into a more senior creative strategy position as the business grows.

We’re looking for someone who wants to become exceptionally good at their craft, takes pride in their work and enjoys the pace of a growing business.

Location

UK-based applicants only.

You’ll work collaboratively with our team, with occasional in-person attendance required at our Birmingham HQ and London production studios for meetings, briefing sessions and shoots.

How to apply

Please send

  1. A short introduction explaining your experience and why this role interests you.
  2. Examples of advertising copy, video scripts, VSLs or creative concepts you’ve developed.
  3. One advertisement you think is particularly effective, with a brief explanation of why you believe it works.

We care more about the quality of your thinking than how polished your CV looks.

If you’re someone who notices why an ad works, enjoys figuring out what makes people buy and wants to become a genuinely excellent creative strategist, we’d like to hear from you.
