Senior Creative Strategist / Creative Operations Lead
The role
Salary: £45,000–£60,000
Performance Bonus: Up to £15,000+ per year
Brand: ShroomIQ
About ShroomIQ
ShroomIQ is a fast-growing UK family wellness brand focused on creating better products for kids, teens and families.
Our flagship product is SuperShrooms, a Calm + Focus gummy made specifically for kids and teens.
We are now entering the next phase of the brand.
Over the coming months, we are expanding into multiple new products and categories, including:
- Daily Greens gummies for kids
- New products across family wellness
- Adult gummies
- New formats and product extensions
Our goal is not to become another supplement brand.
We want to build one of the most recognisable family wellness brands in the UK.
And creative is going to be one of the biggest reasons we get there.
The Role
We are looking for a Senior Creative Strategist / Creative Operations Lead to take ownership of the creative machine behind ShroomIQ.
This is not a role for someone who simply writes a few ad briefs each week.
We already have a large creative team.
What we need is someone who can lead it, organise it, feed it, and turn performance data into better creative every single week.
You will sit at the centre of our creative operation.
Your job is to make sure
- The team always knows what to make
- The creative pipeline never runs dry
- Winning ideas are identified and scaled
- Losing ideas teach us something
- New angles, formats and personas are constantly tested
- Every production team has enough clear, high-quality briefs
- Performance learnings are fed back into new creative
- The entire system becomes faster and more organised over time
Our Creative Machine
You will be responsible for directing several different creative outputs.
Static Ads
We have a team of five talented graphic designers.
Our production capacity is extremely high.
The team can produce 30+ static ads per day when properly briefed.
Your job is not to design the ads.
Your job is to make sure the designers are working from strong concepts, angles, hooks and testing priorities.
UGC + Creators
We work with creators continuously and aim to launch approximately one new creator campaign every week.
You will help decide
- Which personas we need
- Which creators we should test
- What formats they should shoot
- What problems and desires we should focus on
- Which hooks should be tested
- Which successful creators deserve more investment
You will work closely with our UGC team to turn creators into a real performance channel rather than simply a content-production channel.
AI Video
We work with 2–3 external AI creative agencies.
Together, they can produce approximately 25–30 unique concepts every week.
That creates a huge testing opportunity.
But only if somebody is giving them strong strategic direction.
You will be responsible for feeding these teams:
- Concepts
- Hooks
- Angles
- Personas
- References
- Winning patterns
- New formats
- Iterations of existing winners
We do not want 30 random AI videos.
We want 30 intelligent experiments.
Email Creative Direction
You will also work with our email team.
You will not necessarily be responsible for writing every email.
But you should help guide
- Campaign angles
- Product stories
- Launch concepts
- Visual direction
- Promotional themes
- Hooks and headlines
- Creative ideas that can move between paid social and email
Our best ideas should not live in one channel.
What We Actually Need From You
We are looking for someone who is both:
CREATIVE + OPERATIONAL
Being creative is not enough.
Our current team has significant production capacity.
The bottleneck is deciding
What should everyone make next?
You should be comfortable creating systems from scratch.
We are a relatively young brand with a large team, so you cannot expect to walk into a perfectly organised creative department.
Part of your job is to build it.
That may mean creating
- Briefing systems
- Creative calendars
- Testing frameworks
- Naming conventions
- Performance dashboards
- Feedback loops
- Weekly creative meetings
- Idea libraries
- Competitor libraries
- Winner databases
- Production workflows
- Approval processes
We want someone who enjoys building these systems rather than someone who needs those systems already created for them.
What Your Week Might Look Like
A typical week could include
Monday
Review performance from the previous week.
Identify
- Winning ads
- Winning hooks
- Winning angles
- Winning creators
- Winning formats
- Underperforming concepts
- Interesting outliers
Then decide
What should we make more of?
Tuesday
Create the next round of briefs across
- Static ads
- UGC
- AI video
- Creator shoots
- Email ideas
Make sure every production team has enough work.
Wednesday
Research the market.
Study
- Competitors
- DTC brands
- Supplement brands
- Emerging creative formats
- Meta Ad Library
- TikTok
- Creator trends
- New visual formats
Then bring new ideas into the testing pipeline.
Thursday
Review work being produced.
Make sure the creative is actually delivering against the original strategy.
Give feedback.
Improve weak executions.
Spot opportunities to create additional variations from good concepts.
Friday
Review the pipeline for the following week.
Make sure nobody is waiting for work.
Make sure enough new tests are ready to launch.
Document what we learned.
Your Main Responsibilities
You will own
- Creative strategy across paid social
- Weekly creative briefing
- Creative testing strategy
- Competitor research
- Angle development
- Persona development
- Hook development
- Creative format research
- UGC strategy
- Creator strategy
- AI creative direction
- Static ad strategy
- Creative input into email
- Performance analysis
- Creative reporting
- Production workflow
- Creative-team organisation
- Maintaining a constant pipeline of new concepts
- Turning winning ads into larger creative families
- Identifying when creative is fatigued
- Helping the media buyer understand what to test next
- Helping the creative team understand what performance is telling us
Performance Matters
We are not looking for a creative director who only cares whether something looks good.
We sell products.
Creative needs to perform.
You should understand metrics such as
- CAC
- New Customer CPA
- ROAS
- MER
- CTR
- CPC
- CPM
- Hook rate
- Hold rate
- Watch time
- Conversion rate
You do not need to be our media buyer.
But you need to understand advertising performance well enough to answer:
Why did this ad work?
Why did this one fail?
What should we test next?
Is the creator bad, or is the script bad?
Is the hook working but the body failing?
Is the concept attracting attention but attracting the wrong person?
Those are the questions we expect our creative strategist to ask.
High Creative Volume
This role suits someone who enjoys high-output environments.
We do not want to produce five ads a week and debate each one for days.
We want to produce large volumes of smart creative tests.
The challenge is not quantity for the sake of quantity.
It is creating enough structured variation that we learn quickly.
A good creative strategist here should be able to say:
We tested this persona.
With these three angles.
Across these four formats.
With these ten hooks.
This combination worked.
Now we're making 20 more variations around it.
That is the level of thinking we want.
Product Launches
You will also play a major role in new product launches.
We are moving from being predominantly a single-product brand into a broader family wellness company.
One of our next major launches is Daily Greens gummies for kids, a new product for the UK market.
You will help develop the creative strategy around launches like this.
That means answering questions such as
- What is the core problem?
- Who is the customer?
- What is the strongest positioning?
- What objections will parents have?
- What should TOF creative look like?
- What should UGC look like?
- What should statics look like?
- What concepts deserve the most testing?
- How do we turn launch learnings into evergreen acquisition creative?
As the product range expands, creative strategy becomes even more important because we will be coordinating messaging across several different products at once.
You Might Be A Good Fit If…
You have experience in
- DTC ecommerce
- Paid social creative
- Meta advertising
- Creative strategy
- Performance marketing
- UGC
- High-volume creative testing
You naturally think in
Angles.
Hooks.
Personas.
Formats.
Testing.
Performance.
But you also think in
Systems.
Deadlines.
Workflows.
Accountability.
Output.
That second part is extremely important.
You Are Probably Not A Good Fit If…
You need someone else to organise your workload.
You love brainstorming but hate execution.
You produce three ideas and consider the job finished.
You don't like looking at performance data.
You think creative strategy means making mood boards.
You wait to be asked for briefs.
You struggle to manage multiple production teams.
You prefer joining mature systems rather than building them.
What Great Looks Like
Within a few months, we want:
Every creative team constantly briefed.
A clear weekly testing strategy.
No designers sitting around waiting for ideas.
No UGC creators being hired without a strategic reason.
No AI agencies producing random content.
Winning ads being turned into dozens of intelligent iterations.
A clear record of what angles, personas, hooks and formats work.
Creative and media buying operating as one feedback loop.
And ultimately
More winning ads. More new customers. More scale.
Compensation
Base salary: £45,000–£60,000
Plus a performance-based bonus of up to £15,000+ per year.
We want the bonus tied to meaningful outcomes.
If the creative machine performs and the company grows because of it, we want the person leading that machine to benefit too.
How To Apply
Please do not send us a generic creative portfolio.
We'd much rather see
- DTC brands you've worked with
- Ads or campaigns you helped develop
- Examples of creative briefs you've written
- Creative testing systems you've used
- Examples of ads you've iterated after seeing performance
- How you organise large creative pipelines
- How you use performance data to make creative decisions
And answer these three questions
- You join tomorrow and have five designers, a UGC team and three AI agencies waiting for briefs. What do you do in your first two weeks?
- An ad has an excellent hook rate and CTR but terrible conversion. What would you investigate next?
- How would you organise a creative team capable of producing 100+ pieces of content per week without sacrificing strategic thinking?
