Creative Strategist (Paid Social & eCommerce)
The role
Pawezy is an Australian-born pet lifestyle and wellness brand founded in Melbourne, creating premium dog gear and supplements that make everyday life easier, happier and healthier for dogs and their humans.
Since launching in 2021, we’ve expanded into New Zealand and, more recently, the United States. Today, we’re trusted by over half a million dog parents worldwide. We’ve been featured in Vogue Australia and on 7NEWS, and thanks to the support of our Pawezy community, we’ve donated over $1 million worth of products to RSPCA Victoria and other dog rescue organisations across Australia.
We’re a collaborative in-house marketing team where creativity and commercial thinking go hand in hand. Every concept, script and campaign is backed by research, tested and refined based on performance.
If you want to see your ideas come to life and make a real impact, this is the kind of opportunity we offer.
About the Role
We’re looking for a creative and commercially minded Creative Strategist to help drive ad creative ideation and content strategy across paid social.
You’ll contribute to weekly ad concepts and monthly content ideation, working closely with our marketing and creative teams to keep our creative pipeline fresh and performance-driven across our Australian and US markets.
This role has a strong focus on paid social performance, customer psychology and direct-response advertising. You’ll be expected to understand how creative performs within Meta advertising, use performance insights to identify what’s working, and develop concepts, hooks, angles, scripts and creative iterations designed to drive customer action.
You’ll also receive training on our internal creative tools, frameworks and processes from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Strategy & Paid Social Ideation
- Develop fresh advertising concepts and content ideas for paid social campaigns.
- Research industry trends, competitor activity and top-performing ads to identify new creative opportunities.
- Analyse customer behaviour, pain points, desires and objections to uncover compelling hooks, angles and messaging opportunities.
- Develop creative concepts, scripts and detailed briefs that align with brand messaging and performance objectives.
- Write compelling direct-response ad copy, headlines and hooks that connect with customers and drive action.
- Work within our established creative frameworks and processes to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Analyse Meta advertising performance to identify winning creative patterns, develop iterations and determine what to test next.
- Explore new creative approaches to improve advertising performance and customer acquisition.
Creative Collaboration & Production
- Collaborate with our marketing, design and content teams to bring advertising concepts to life.
- Identify suitable creators, talent and content styles for specific ad concepts, working with our existing talent-sourcing process.
- Provide clear creative direction and constructive feedback to designers and content creators.
- Review and refine ad creatives through to final, ready-to-launch completion.
- Maintain consistency with Pawezy’s brand identity, messaging and premium positioning.
Content & Shoot Collaboration
- Collaborate with photographers, creators and the wider creative team to bring concepts to life.
- Participate in local studio and lifestyle shoots where applicable.
- Help ensure content captured aligns with the original creative strategy and is optimised for paid media performance, not just visual appeal.
- Being comfortable creating quick-turnaround content yourself, filming or appearing on camera where appropriate is a strong advantage.
What we're looking for
- 2–5 years of experience in creative strategy, eCommerce marketing, performance marketing or digital advertising.
- Proven experience working with direct-to-consumer (DTC) brands, eCommerce businesses or agencies servicing eCommerce clients.
- Strong understanding of Meta advertising, paid social creative strategy and direct-response marketing.
- Experience developing ad concepts, hooks, scripts and creative briefs designed to drive conversions.
- Ability to interpret paid social performance metrics, including CTR, CVR and ROAS, and translate insights into actionable creative improvements.
- Strong understanding of customer psychology, consumer behaviour and persuasive messaging.
- Excellent copywriting skills, particularly for direct-response advertising, headlines and product storytelling.
- A creative mindset combined with commercial thinking — you understand that every ad is an opportunity to test, learn and improve.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with designers, content creators and marketing teams.
- Strong communication, organisation and creative briefing skills.
- A proactive, independent approach to problem-solving and taking ownership of responsibilities.
- Experience creating content, filming or appearing on camera is a bonus, but not essential.
- A tertiary qualification in marketing, advertising or communications is advantageous but not required. Relevant experience matters more to us.
What We Offer
- Competitive Salary: $75,000–$85,000 AUD + Super for Australian-based employees, depending on experience.
- Flexible Working Arrangements: Hybrid working in Melbourne, with remote opportunities considered for suitable interstate and international candidates.

- Professional Development: Training and access to our internal creative tools, frameworks and processes.
- Collaborative Environment: Work alongside our in-house marketing and creative team.
- Career Growth: Opportunities to develop your skills and take on greater responsibility as Pawezy continues to grow.
- Dog-Friendly Workplace: Bring your pup to work at our Melbourne office!
Location & Flexibility
This is a full-time hybrid position based in Melbourne, Australia, with flexible work-from-home arrangements.
We’re also open to experienced candidates based elsewhere in Australia or overseas for a fully remote arrangement, provided they can collaborate effectively with our Australian team and attend regular meetings that overlap with Melbourne business hours.
For international remote candidates, compensation and engagement arrangements will be discussed separately based on location and experience.
